False Equivalence Industry by Minhaz Merchant

https://openthemagazine.com/columns/the-false-equivalence-industry/

Don't focus on personalities, focus on issues, agenda. People come and go after passing time 5-10 years, by that time we also get old or busy. Make issues so strong that everyone who adorns the chair is compelled to do something.

On Quran: Any long piece of writing, contains statements that can be linked with some truth by stretching and some pseudo logic. But that doesn't make entire writing true. Muslim apologists cheery pick bits and say it’s proof, there are so many errors in the Koran that anything that’s actually right is down to luck.

Their best card is victim card; poverty, western-Israeli conspiracy, bla bla. So first they try to prove that they are victim, and then by some weird logic whosoever is victim, everything he says is true. They play this victim card even when there are 56 Muslim majority countries on planet, of which 36 have more than 90% population following Islam and most of these Islamic countries have laws to protect and encourage Islam, special rights for Muslims, not the tiny minorities. When they are themselves biggest aggressor.

On Islamic Golden Age:

Thanks to a guy who wrote this blog with evidence, I added stuff below.

Quality matters in Science, Thinking, Ideas or any Mental Activity.

It is foolish to expect goodness from a person who is not informed, intelligent and logical enough. I have met many people who were good at heart, but later on I found them to be very stupid and I fell off.  UG, SAML, MKS, AM many others.

I have repeatedly seen that just faith or purusarth is not enough to make a person good, make his actions bear good fruit. Faith in right direction helps, but is insufficient. How good we can be is often limited by our knowledge. How good we can be in our feelings and self assessment is another matter and often not the correct measure of how good we are in objective world. I have seen people with very good intentions, kindness, empathy, doing stupid things.

There are things written on piece of paper, which feels to be right, working. And then there is man, who is subject to not only the cold reality on piece of paper, but also to dark world of emotions, feelings, brain mechanisms/workings, about which he has very little knowledge, about which very little has been written, and even less has been read, so an ordinary person knows extremely less. To control or intervene is even more difficult, but knowing is first step.

In everyday life, I meet people who are full of faith but have stalled the another horse of their chariot, Just thinking is not good enough. Most humans think. First person can do GOOD with incomplete thinking and feel his thinking is complete. Second person can do things resulting in BAD outcomes with incomplete thinking, but staying in a shell he doesn't feel it. The first one of these is more dangerous.  It is like that guy with 5-6 keys, opening 5-6 doors. Since he is able to open each door in the first or second attempt, he thinks all keys open all the doors. Only a complete thinking (eternally unachievable) can ensure good results over time in different situations (which itself means one needs to rework and understand). We Hindus failed and lost because of our Hubris. We were like first one.

Confidence people have in their belief, their feelings are very often not justified objectively. People who sit in higher position or belong to so called higher social status, or national status, they automatically are more confident about their views in my observation. However baseline remains same, we human beings are statistically very similar BIOLOGICALLY across the groups, nations, religions, races. So even if someone belongs to certain privileged group or nation, he/she still needs to do objective thinking from scratch. That hard work most privileged people dnt do, hence a lot of dissonance between their views/confidence/social ratings and reality.

One history teacher in school used to say, "whosoever has came up, he will go down, no nation or group is at the peak forever". He said that in the reference to many golden periods in Indian history upto 1200 AD. I think this happens because people become sloppy once they are doing well and are privileged. It is like Marine Diesel Engines (which are most well functioning only when loaded to 75-80% of MCR), we need stress and pressure all the time to perform. Our bodies and minds become useless otherwise.

Those who have imagined superiority on the basis of birth in certain religion, or caste, or country are careless lot. No wonder India has produced nothing good in last 800 years. Our role in shaping the modern world has been next to zero.

Our main asset is not our passport, our birth cast, or affluence. Our main asset is our mind and on the development of our mind rests everything else, more or less. And while dealing with that you cant afford to be over confident, delusional, careless.  __________________________________________________________________________________

I guess at least 50 million Indians must have played cricket for few years in life. The number in New Zealand would be 0.5 million I guess. But still they are able to challenge us.

Hebrew university of Jerusalem, Israel has produced more mathematics than entire Indian universities combined. We Indian just like quantity. 99% of our universities are welfare projects to keep people busy and feed them. They produce nothing of scientific value whatsoever.

Everything which has to do with thinking, that tiny edge is all that matters. Difference between our genes and that of Chimps is very less. Smart societies focus on that extra edge, that one successful research even if 100 fail, that one entrepreneur even if 50 fail.
Mediocre societies focus on numbers. They can't imagine, they can't see the importance of that.
They don't see the difference between one successful work and 1000 mediocre work.
So people in India focus on buying flats, owning land.
But very few take genuine interest in science and technology or even philosophy or psychology.

In our daily life, most Indians talk without going into details of matter. Without any thorough analysis. We are in habit of silly talks and shallow thinking.

Suppose ideas are stones or projectiles being thrown in the sky to move around the earth or into the space out of earths gravity. Ideas should be powerful enough to defy the gravity, to escape the gravity and set its own inertia, other wise idea will die. The weak idea will only start moving away from earth if a second planet with similar strength will come close to the earth. In that case also the projectile will have probability to spin around  the second planet, not take its own path.

Group have their own inertia/gravity. The culture of mediocrity is contagious and pervasive in India. When everyone is doing same thing, it feels to be right and normal. Our herd mentality kicks in.

When hundreds of human sing a song in a religious gathering, and even if no-one remembers it, you hear the same song which was intended. Even you sing out of tune , you soon adapt to the tune. It will not depend on a particular person. (Result will be different if hundreds of monkeys start singing. Monkeys have completely different set of vocal and brain.)

In vortex induced vibration analysis, formation of vortices about a pipe in sea water depends on the flow velocity and diameter of the pipe. Suppose the natural frequency of the pipe is 0.5, if vortex shedding frequency comes close to this natural frequency, around 0.4-0.6, it will adapt to the natural frequency in very very small time, and vortex will start shedding at 0.5 Hz. (please ignore the numbers)
We humans are very close to each other in genes, such that we can have sex and can produce similar kids. We are not far away from each other like chimpanzee and baboon are from us.

No wonder, most human are predictable in many ways. And behave in the ways in which a person of our group in that particular situation is likely to behave.

A person born in Syria, even with very good innate nature, in most of cases is likely to become part of one of the parties to the war. A person in government job in India will need extremely high will to not do a single act of corruption in life.

A person in an inefficient system will most likely be tuned and bring poor results in-spite of his initial intentions and efforts.

On 14 August 2018, four people were chosen to give slogans during a lamp march in evening (RSS people do this every year, to mourn partition of India). There were hundred people. I was one of them. Few people were assigned to give slogans, others followed. Initially I also tried meekly to give slogans, but I failed. Later on others weakened and my voice grown so loud that I could drown the other sloganeers, others had to stop. If I was not that loud, I would never get opportunity to lead. So remember the fate of your ideas.

If it is too strong to pull you out of the gravity, all ok. Idea will survive. If it is strong but not enough to pull out then it's fate depends on other factors, a wait for another source of energy, inspiration, gravity. It may come in short time if idea is lucky or it may never come.

You will be part of the system, moving with the inertia of the system, like an ant on the back of a camel.

People in Somalia, nice people, one of them helped me without asking. But they can't escape (most of them) from the fate that average Somalian has, the effects on psychology, drug habits, crime, doing nothing.

Why almost all Japanese soldiers would commit harakiri than escape during world war? There are few planets in the solar system and few moons. Fate of the dust particles, stones is fixed on those planets.

Idea here can be replaced by another set of system, habit, etc or it can be many other thing.
What I mean is when you make effort for something very difficult, think about it. If it doesn't have enough momentum to escape the current situation then result will be zero. You need to cross a very high threshold to get out of it to a different situation. If it doesn't acquire that then output of the efforts will be naught.

Unless you jump out of well with certain minimum energy, you will be trapped and only lose energy by jumping more and die sooner. You simply don't have energy to collide with that big mass again and again.
Every stone you throw out of the earth will fall down to the earth. It doesn't have energy to keep fighting against the gravity for very long.

What I meant is your conviction should be very high and must not hope a change with moderate effort
Or otherwise luck is helping you a lot.

Second thing is detailed plan, responsible brainstorming. Even for satellites, apart from utilizing available energy, a detailed plan is needed and must be executed with precision in time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to watch motivational videos in past, but these videos didn't seem to change much.
Different solutions apply to different situations and one definitely needs deep experiences to be able to apply.
Those who try to swim in shallow in the safety, cannot cross ocean.

Mostly only those ideas, about which I have well thought out, read properly in detail, are retained by my mind a bit.

It is like theories, only well studied theories can be applied. Only well thought out plans can be executed, rest are waste of time.

Essentially good habits are not just trick, in many cases these demand a change in unconscious habits of person. Those habits come by drill. There is no shortcut.
Every time a person needs to do the same drill.
People read about Buddha, that doesn't make them Buddha.
Buddha had best education available in that time probably. And he knew his questions, he had thought enough, before leaving home.
After leaving home also, he spent seven years.
Assuming he spent 40 hrs a week 10 months a year, he spent 13000 hours, sincerely thinking, experiencing, experimenting.
Those who just dally with things, are essentially wasting time.

If putting 10 hrs a day in study brings some result, putting 5 or 7 hours a day wont bring half result, it will bring zero result. It is waste of money, effort (I don't mean it literally).
____________________________________________________________________________

My email to somebody: "There is one similarity between you and many third world people.

If someone asks you about some complex problem, you wont understand much, you will say I believe in doing good person to person and kindness, rest is beyond my understanding.

Muslims say the same, they don't get into all this confusion about human rights, Darwin and all that.

For them whatever is written in the Quran that is right, moral.

It is a lot more simple and easy than law books and thousands of pages of constitution.

Also primitive laws were very simple. Be it Hammurabi's code or shariya.

Similarly millions of my efforts at millions of different points of time, don't add.

It is repetition of simple emotional reactions. It doesn't matter if I react millions of times the same way, or a similar type of millions of people react the same way in a few moments.

Bukowski said "I am a thousand year old soul". What he meant is that, he has lived much more intensely in one life, than many would live in ten lives.

Just as billions of Muslim believing and reacting to Shariya in emotional way millions of times in their lives, don't help them understand much reality.

Democracy is better than dictatorship, or aristocracy.

But democracy doesn't mean the masses will elect wise leaders.

A billion people trying to solve Fermat's theorem, doesn't mean they will be able to solve it.

For their efforts inside their minds, don't add. Every effort dies inside the brain of an individual.

Like 7 billion trying to throw stones to the moon, will not be able to make it, just like they thought in the old days that the sky would be maybe 500 meters away.
That is the approach of people to their brains, mechanisms.

Before it can be added, it has to be solved to such an extent that it can be articulated on paper.

Since human beings don't understand their emotional reactions very well, they are never in a situation to write much in detail.
Hence they are never able to add up.

You always bring numbers, that so many people contradict me so I must be wrong. But you won't succeed.

Emotional reactions are very simple in nature. These can't solve complex problems.

Emotions flow like electricity in humans, just like you received this idea of being enlightened by virtue of belonging to Dutch nationality.

Real knowledge, hard thinking is like trying to flow electricity from a semiconductor.

Below a certain bias voltage, the semiconductor will simply not pass any current. No matter how many times you apply the low voltage.

You don't work on your brain and like me you keep repeating your reactions.

That is at the heart of effective thinking. To get out of repetitive emotional reactions and make some progress.

Why masses like simple ideas, it is like passing a thread through a thousand needles.

Only that thread which can pass through the narrowest needle hole will pass through.

Same way our emotional reactions, which are very simple in nature, and we exhibit them in every hour of life.

While thinking is like a thick thread, it takes a lot of energy to arouse thinking, and can't pass from moment to moment, we are simply not ready to think.

So these things have to be reminded again and again and again and again and again, millions of times, to get something done in life. "

If you don't know who your are, and if you get manipulated by anything and everything then you are the problem.

Why popular story looks normal, real, to people?
For the same reason as people know their facts.
From media; it is not that media shows facts; it is that whatever media shows becomes fact.

There have been thousands of cases of piracy close to Somalia.
Those who do piracy, Africans, they are mostly illiterate, dumb. They are like animals.
But they don't do the main work.
Main work is done by some white man, who writes to the shipping company, to owner, charterer.
He negotiates. Africans don't know much, whom to contact, whom to mail.
But not knowing who is who, and just getting manipulated, makes a person dangerous.

People like Rahul Gandhi, Shekhar Gupta are those white coordinators, who tell to Muslims do this, we will manage, you get this I get this.

And at this point it is important to discuss who among the so called great authors said anything or expected anything like partition even after so much happening? They were Tagore, Premchand, who wrote anything about that? Most important event for India and they were as clueless as one can be. Did Subhash Chandra Bose know what is going to be fate of Bengal? He did not learn from 1906 partition. Wasting his energy in a futile battle, British would leave India anyway after WWII. Only Ambedkar and Savarkar did some thinking, and predicted it coming. Others did not think, they were like typical Hindu, doing chamchagiri, being nice. Coward, slave of habit, wanting to please people, wanting to be seen good, instead of thinking. Hindu bravery only comes in false show of ego during personal fights and wedding etc, which every dumb person lacking any vision and even animals show. What thse authors and leaders said or wrote was usually not genius. Most of them did not show element of strong independent thinking. They did not make some big flight of imagination. They mostly learned, what one can learn by reading books, and seeing west.

Gandhi did not think, people did not think. People of India worshipped Gandhi and Gandhi came to his conclusions mostly by belief.

On RSS Method व्यक्ति निर्माण से राष्ट्र निर्माण

There can be many sources of obtaining views on RSS. One may know views from individual Swayamsevaks, that may be informative but not authority. Because Individuals add their own understanding and that differs from person to person. Only RSS organized events, in which say 20 Swayamsevak participate and their is some person speaking on or to them, that has more value.  Official RSS views are shared to media by RSS representatives (spokes person), who are authorized for it, e.g. Sri Dattatrey Hosabale. There are RSS authorized intellectuals to put their views in Media, like Dr Marakand Paranjape, Dr Rakesh Sinha.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRJcgAp-PdY&t=48s

Rest who writes what and who says what on RSS in media and daily life, is their freedom of speech, their bias, wishful imagination and rumor very often.

The kind of vilification and distortion which is done by media, and vested interests, makes it difficult and dangerous to say much, because everything will be distorted. People who want to know more about RSS, I would suggest them to read Bunch of Thoughts by Guruji

https://www.amazon.in/Bunch-of-Thoughts/dp/8186595198

or Dr. Hedgewar The Epoch-Maker

https://www.amazon.in/Dr-Hedgewar-Epoch-Maker-H-Seshadri/dp/B01FM1GWG2

My writing below is based on my personal understanding.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

RSS philosophy is not about external factors affecting Hindu society and country. Focus of RSS is internal problems, lack of interest among Hindus, towards country, and lack of brotherhood, lack of honesty, character. RSS main concern is that we have not been able to hold our people, so High castes discriminate against low castes in villages, there is corruption etc. RSS main focus is character building, brotherhood. This yagna of character-building would exist even in absence of British, Muslim, Christian missionary onslaught. It is like working on good health, and we need good health even if there is nobody to fight.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This is my answer to some leftist, masquerading as pro-Hindu, criticizing Mohan Bhagwat Ji on speech in the snap below.

Person writes: "Hindutvawadi mask is finally off. Inn moodh andhbhakton ke saamne toh dikhawa bhi karne ki zaroorat nahin. .....That's their real character. Not difficult to see why the Hindu is such a perpetual loser."

It turns out that person is some dupe, some fake profile. But still it is important to counter.

My Response:

There is a lot of wrong information about RSS in public. I did not listen to his speech, but being with RSS on and off, I have not come across anything in last 12 years which would suggest that so called 'real character'. Without knowing the context such objections do not have meaning.

There are two types of attainments, one can be obtained by just wishing, talking and thinking.

However many of the important skills involve a lot more. These involve unconscious and subconscious, mind and body. One cannot learn perseverance only by reading essays on it. No matter how many lectures a person gets in the classroom, he won't become a soldier.

Hence in RSS, we see that most of the activities are applied, not taught. Minimum amount of written text exist. In the ancient guru-shishya system, the teacher was not just a speaker or audio, giving theories, he made practical demonstrations, himself and his life being an example.

For very long period, ancient texts were passed from guru to shishya, by word of mouth, before Vedas were written. Same way among the monks who preached philosophy of Buddha, first text was not written until 200 years after death of Buddha. In Japanese Shinto there is very little written text and we can talk anything about Shinto, but most of Shinto is passed through person to person without use of books or texts. Samurai skills have been passed through practical demonstration, takes 15 years to become expert in Samurai. In good in bad, we cant overlook it. Mohammed was not successful just because of Quran, he brought all the applied things like 5 times prayer, Bakrid slaughter, Zakat. So we see that all the calls for moderation (in Islam) through the written texts have failed. Western and upper middle class Indians remain very clumsy in dealing with Muslims. Half knowledge of human psychology produces poor results compared to one who knows nothing about human psychology. It is not required for a soccer player to read books on soccer.

And there are many things which cannot be explained through words. We humans communicated even before we had words. Animals communicate without language. Emotions, body language all are kind of things which we absorb unconsciously and subconsciously. Leftists take advantage of this lack of much written text and media bulletins on each and every thing. And many well meaning people also project their imaginations about RSS. But RSS stays on the ground, because people have experienced what RSS means, their families, old, young everyone. Leftists can claim victory on twitter, but that wont uproot RSS. We all might have many acquaintances on Facebook and Twitter, but in real adversity, it is the people whom we know as a person they only help. Successful politicians maintain mass contact, they attend wedding and funerals in their constituency.

Marxism is a written philosophy which has produced abject results and it relies on written texts. It has superior propaganda ability with books, talks, but it has always created disaster when applied on the ground.

Main aim of RSS is character building. And one builds his character in family. RSS creates that family like atmosphere, creates love for country through that practical approach. It is important to keep people away from lime light during that phase. Afterwards, everyone is free to read and write. Every Indic is a family member.  Shakha is play ground, talking corner, just like aangan of the household where kids of the family play and elders gossip and pass values.

Marxist take advantage of this, lack of written words from RSS. Marxists targeted universities, press, think tanks to demonize RSS and spread their agenda. RSS went to the houses and families.

Poor people, children, old may not always understand complicated political theories. But they understand that this is the place where they belong. They recognize friends, feeling of friendship, a sense of belonging. They know that these are the people who will help. That is how it works. As a Pracharak said during an event: "हमें मित्रता करनी है, हमें दोस्ती करनी है " (We have to make friends). I am living in Mumbai since 2017 and I made most friends through RSS. For good and for bad, you need to learn teamwork. In Shakha they learn teamwork.

You can't explain theories to masses. But in Shakha they inculcate feeling of brotherhood. They develop good habits. Habits useful for character building and nation building. Side by side they help each other understand the country a bit. You wont like to discuss theories every day. But here we play, we sing geet, we do yoga, celebrate festivals together, sometimes we eat together. That we can do all round year without getting bored. We can't get rid of caste discrimination by reading books. Langar tradition was started by Sikh gurus to eradicate caste discrimination. Most of the RSS tiny booklets are about geet, khela and yoga which we do in Shakha.

There is power in written texts, in propaganda, but that Swayamsevaks can do themselves later. There are many walks in the lives of individuals. That discovery remains open for lifetime, one can join university, media, politics or social service, anything afterwards.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Another talk I had with a friend on email, about open mind:

I didn't learn whatever little I learned by trying to learn or trying to be open minded. I learned in the course of life, from the problems, situations which I faced.

It is not just about keeping an open mind. It takes a lot more to go into depth. I think a lot of people who think they are open minded, don't realize that. A soldier is not a title, it is a name of ability and experience.

The Same way, a person who has not tested his mind on a variety of ideas, real difficult situations, will not mean much. I had this experience in life many times. With myself and with others. I am still evolving, in the process. The mind opens not like a container lid. It opens with experience and questions. It is a lifelong process.

I had this experience with many eastern/western friends as well, who were very open minded, had much broader view on many aspects. But after a while I see that they reach the limit. Because they reached the limit of what they had thought. Often very early.

We humans cannot be completely open minded. It is a relative term, open mind. We don't have ages to think, we need to survive as well. But still we can acknowledge it if we are serious.

Vajpayee Ji on RSS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjEki8ft1uU

Today Vijayadashmi 2021: I recall some friend from Kolkata what kind of training RSS is giving, why this training, terrorists need training. Well Police, volunteers all need training, not just terrorists.

For the first time saw a gun today during shastra puja. Afterwards I asked the owner of gun, he said it is air gun, not real gun. Two swords were kept at venue. Both were blunt ones, kind of used in shows, without edge. The fact that a gun and two sword was kept meant nothing more. But leftists fill in that vacuum in absence of credible information. But a leftist would conjure, this is what RSS does, armed training killing Muslims, all without any proof. Upper middle class public doesn't want proof, public makes out anything what suits them.  To train you need real gun, bullets, range, target, etc, and you can't do it in small field in city. But who would ask that, people want fast conclusion.

When during one event some Swayamsevak had brought sword, RSS founder, Dr. Hedgewar, had himself asked Swayamsevaks not to bring shastra. During shastra puja 2-3 swords are kept, these swords don't have sharpened edge. When you buy a sword from market, it doesnot have sharp edge, it is blunt. But you can't see that photos, videos. Indian penal code doesn't restrict possession and carrying of blunt blades for ceremonial purposes with no intent or reason for law and order. Sikhs have more freedom.

99% RSS processions have no swords or anything. I have not personally seen in 12 years. Processions are carried out always with police permission. When police doesn't give permission, processions have been cancelled, always.

Crores of Muslims come out in streets during Muharrem, in every kasba, town of India where they have good numbers and some carry sharpened swords as well, with which they bleed themselves during mourning. These processions start around a week before final event. Has anyone heard Hindus objecting to these processions? Has anyone written any article connecting it to something?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvfWiAq62ig&t=39s

I am thinking that if Muslims managed to  finish Hindus in India, liberals Muslims and leftists would write in books: "Hindus were blood thirsty people, a cult of devil, worshipping snake poison God Shiva, Blood drinking Goddess Kali and that Goddess Durga who wielded 18 weapons in her 18 hands, killing black Mahishasur. We beat those devils and saved humanity" They have done it in Pakistan, where textbooks show Hindus as evil. Abusive words about Hindus are common in live TV shows, news etc.

They did same to Kashmir, they said Hindu Pandits were elite and Muslim proletariat was fighting for freedom from elite. They said that about genocide of Hindus in Malabar as well. Same they did about Godhara train burning. Same way they covered up Muslim role in partition, instead blamed RSS, which had no say in affairs. Which was not even formed when Marle Minto Reforms was brought in 1909, giving reservation to Muslims and Muslim only constituencies in representative houses.

When I was a child, there was a Trishul Vitran event by VHP in Rajastha, in that event symbolic small trishuls (which can't harm anyone) were given and some oaths. It appeared in media everywhere that VHP is militarizing Hindu, plans for bloodbath...bla bla.

Before Modi Ji came in 2014, they spread rumor, "pure desh me danga karwaega...muslamano ka katleam karwaega...", many so called intellectuals said they will leave the country...What happened to their prophesies and oaths?

It is strange that I have been in RSS since 2009, but everyone seems to know more about RSS than me, and they are very confident. Even when they have not seen a RSS Sakha ever in life. But they try to teach me. This is how confident people can be in their ignorant views.

Every person who has never been close to RSS seems to know everything about RSS. More remote the person, stronger his opinion and confidence in truthfulness of his opinion. They all seem to teach RSS, about what RSS is. As a person be told by everyone else what is his name and who he is.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dr Hedgewar, founder of RSS was a Telegu, he had done LMS from Calcutta Medical College in June 1916 and was a physician. He was member of Anushilan Samiti the revolutionary organization of Bengal, friend of Shubhash Chandra Bose, and other revolutionaries. His early inspiration Bankim Chandra Chaterjees works, he was also friend of M N Roya who was also a member of Anushilan Samiti, and founded Marxist Communist Party.

Subhash Chandra Bose, and MN Roy all these were terrorist? Is this the way to treat political opponents, the way Congress did, maligning everyone except one family, with factious stories?

And nobody talks about it, Dr Hedgewar was member of Congress from 1920 till 1925, and Seva Dal, the congress team of youths founded in 1923; disillusioned by attitude of Gandhiji etc who did nothing to stop everyday riots against Hindus by Muslims in Malabar and elsewhere, during Khilafat movement, post the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire after World War One.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

There is a parallel organization, Seva Dal, started by Congress in 1923, two years before RSS. Unlike RSS, seva dal diminished in popularity at Grassroot. But Seva Dal and RSS were very similar, had similar methods etc. Is Seva Dal a terrorist training organization? Was Nehru in seva dal uniform a terrorist?

Constitution, law of land is still holding. There are 42 designated terrorist organizations in India, most of them are banned from before 2014. There are around a dozen communist organizations in them, 16 Islamic organizations, 5 Khalistani organizations. No Hindu organization. For government to designate terrorist organization requires proof, which can be defended in court of law. Social media doesn't require proof. There are around 100 terrorist organizations banned by Government of Canada, almost 90% Islamic organizations. A similar number is in list of FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organizations) of USA. UK, Germany. None Hindu.

Almost all UN Designated terrorist organizations are Islamic organizations.

Even all organizations banned in Bangladesh and Pakistan, Islamic countries themselves are Muslim organizations. For all their Hindu hatred, they can't find a single Hindu organization to blacklist legally following their own Islamic constitution.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

On another question, why there is so much disproportionate focus on Hindutva, RSS etc. And no focus on Islam, Jihad, killings done all over the world in the name of Islam? Why fanatic Muslim leaders don't look into their own house and get away with abusing RSS? Before becoming PM, Modi ji had sent some delegation, he wanted to talk to Syed Ali Shah Gilani. Gilani insulted them, that he has RSS history, he is extremist and Ghilani will never talk to him. Said the man who said:  "A Muslim can't live in non-Muslim majority country, he needs a country of his own, Islam and Islamic state are inseparable". Who said: "Ham Pakistani hain, Pakistan hamara hai".

All such fanatics tell RSS is extremist. Minhaz Merchant said : "For Akhtar to compare the RSS—however distasteful he might find its ideology—to the Taliban reflects deep-set prejudice, unworthy of a creative man of letters."

These are people full of hate, but they find fault with others.

In my 11 years in RSS I hardly see anyone wearing saffron kurta, Bhagwa kurta or robe. That Bhagwa and tilak is mostly used for fake photo shoots, to malign RSS, by paid actors and actresses, for TV and twitter.

Muslims and leftists are spreading hatred and are predicting that about RSS since 1925 that RSS will do genocide, they predicted same about Modi before 2014. In the meanwhile they did genocide in Malabar in 1921, Kashmir in 1990s, Pakistan and Bangladesh in 1947, 1971. That is how they cover up themselves and put the blame on Hindus.

My answer to an idiot: How much do you know about RSS? Apart from what you read from internet? How many people you have known in real life? Those people who write about RSS on internet, they write for ignorant people like you.  when you write "xxxxx" , It implies you knows all other people of RSS background. I am simply asking a question, how many people of RSS you have known in real life. I am not talking about fiction you like to read and believe.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

What I observed while in collective singing is that most of the people don't memorize the lines even after two years, ten years. Only few remember the lines and still everyone manages to produce a great rhythm. Get ten idiots from road, make them recite some song or poem and then ask them to do it collectively, even if none of those idiots remember rhythm or lines properly, still you get great rhythm. That is beauty and power of association, harmony, beauty and power of the original rhythm and its power to be remembered by those idiots even if partially. Weaknesses, faults of the individuals are covered in such singing. You can't trace who did what, as long as he/she is not notorious.

It happens in team work, many people cleverly shield themselves. There is less incentive for an individual to remember, to develop his voice, rhythm, and other stuff. But then you reach a limit and then you have to work on individuals to change the overall quality. Same things happen in culture which promote individualism, like in the west, individuals are more likely to be capable. These individuals may abuse or call that original song as bad, useless etc. And will seek to rupture the original song so that they have even more of what they like. But then somebody or somehow another powerful song appears and that song gathers many people. Songs of some culture, democracy, communism, Islamic state etc. Then Individuals are again on the backfoot, because they can't match collective power, even while they have developed themselves. In collective societies, collectively they hit a wall too. And in order to make changes, they need to be busted and then each of the individuals in that group need to change then they reform and form new organic entity. If society is flexible then it needs amendment, and can survive without busting.

The thing we call organic as a rule, our bodies and brain being one, also are not free from faults. Cultures are small things, Indic people of India say it is 5000 years old. But even the mind and body for which nature took two billion years and all things which were available on earth, still the work is faulty. So we human beings are stupid, and ignorant. So now we are coming up with medication and surgery of various kinds. But we don't call for killing the body as long as we can make changes. If some body is suffering from cancer and not changing then that body will be killed. Collective process, song, shifts the energy and power to the process, and hence individuals have less autonomy. Individualist puts power to the individual, then he/she misses the beauty of the collective works. For ordinary people collective thing is relatively better. For extraordinary people individualistic thing works. For best results both need to push hard. Intelligent societies have harmony between both. We see that in Jews who are well developed as Individuals, but they also work very well as a social team.

A good process exists to add value, not merely to recycle. Just as purpose of tax collection is not just to collect taxes and redistribute it again. That money has to be used for growth. Purpose of government school is not to collect tax from public, and building and teachers, redistribute tax money. We can compare it to cooking. Collective things are like pot, motivation is fire, individuals are ingredients. If pot is small, you can't cook. But if ingredient itself is bad, whatever you cook will be bad. And purpose of pot is not just to collect and shake ingredients together.

RSS is trying both to unite and to change individuals again according to our eternal ethos; RSS will serve its purpose as long as it is not losing its second purpose of changing the individual for better, while serving its first purpose of uniting people. If RSS men become like other lazy and ignorant like men in society and start following the all habits which they naturally get from society, purpose will be lost. So even if there is tendency among people to be like they are in society, that tendency has to be countered, as it happens normally hopefully.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Biggest reason of RSS success is that it is able to inculcate feeling of samskar, love, respect and brotherhood among 1 million people. 1 million Hindus are able to work as a team towards the same goal. Otherwise no five Hindus can work in a team without any self-interest. That people can work as a family, otherwise no family among Hindus is more than a physical blood family. Biggest thing is samskar, love. So RSS automatically becomes strong and provides leadership to Hindu society, as no other group can cooperate and at the same time claim to represent Hindus. Hindus have no option, but to look towards RSS.

Rabindranath Tagore on Communal Problem in India

In his article titled “Samasya”, Rabindranath Tagore quoted  from the report of Dr Munje: “The Hindus of Malabar are generally speaking mild and docile and have come to entertain such a moral fear of the Moplas that the moment any such trouble arises; the only way of escape the Hindus can think of is to run for life leaving their children and womenfolk behind, to take care of themselves as best they could, thinking perhaps honestly that if the Moplas attack them without any previous molestation, God, the Almighty and the Omniscient, is there to teach them lesson and even to take a revenge on their behalf.”

Tagore further states: “Hindus are not accustomed to handle earthly matters in a realistic way, they have snuggled themselves in the hegemony of ‘nitya’ and ‘anitya’ and have lost their common sense. As they insult God by replacing intelligence with rituals, projecting God in place of self-reliance, they suffer, and don’t understand this due to inertia of mind.”

Delving deep into the cause of the riots, Tagore notes: “In another portion of the report, Dr. Munje briefed that eight hundred years back, Hindu king of Malabar allowed the Arabs to settle in his state, following the advice of Brahmin ministers. The Muslims were encouraged to convert Hindus in such an extent that, the king directed every fisherman’s family to allow one of their family members to be converted into Islam. The reason was very simple, adherent king and his ministers considered the voyage as against religion. They delegated the responsibility of coastal security upon the Muslims, those who used believe in their common sense and not in ‘Manu’.”

In the same article, Tagore writes: “The king of Malabar once gave away his throne to idiocy. That idiocy is still ruling Malabar from a Hindu throne. That’s why the Hindus are still being beaten and saying that God is there, turning the faces towards the sky. Throughout India we allowed idiocy to rule and surrender ourselves to it. That kingdom of idiocy—the fatal lack of common sense—was continuously invaded by the Pathans, sometimes by the Mughals and sometimes by the British. From outside we can only see the torture done by them, but they are only the tools of torture, not really the cause. The real reason of the torture is our lack of common sense and our idiocy, which is responsible for our sufferings. So we have to fight this idiocy that divided the Hindus and imposed slavery on us …If we only think about the torture we will not find any solution. But if we can get rid of our idiocy, the tyrants will surrender to us.”

In an article titled “Swamy Shraddananda” in “Kalantar”, Tagore writes: “Whenever a Muslim called upon the Muslim society, he never faced any resistance—he called in the name of one God ‘Allah-ho-Akbar’. On the other hand, when we (Hindus) call will call, ‘come on, Hindus’, who will respond? We, the Hindus, are divided in numerous small communities, many barriers—provincialism—who will respond overcoming all these obstacles? We suffered from many dangers, but we could never be united. When Mohammed Ghouri brought the first blow from outside, the Hindus could not be united, even in the days of imminent danger. When the Muslims started to demolish the temples one after another, and to break the idols of Gods and Goddesses, the Hindus fought and died in small units, but they could not be united. It has been provided that we were killed in different ages due to our discord.”

In a letter to Hemantabala Sarkar, quoted in Bengali weekly “Swastika” (21-6-1899), Tagore states: “The terrible situation of the country makes my mind restless and I cannot keep silent. Meaningless rituals keep the Hindus divided in hundred sects. So we are suffering from series of defeats. We are tired and worn-out by the fortunes by the internal external enemies. The Muslims are united in religion and rituals. The Bengali Muslims the South Indian Muslims and even the Muslims outside India—all are united. They always stand untied in face of danger. The broken and divided Hindus will be again humiliated by the Muslims. ‘You are a mother of children, one day you will die, passing the future of Hindus society on the weak shoulders of your children, but think about their future’.”

In the article Swamy Shraddananda, Tagore writes: “So, if the Muslims beat us and we, the Hindus, tolerate this without resistance—then, we will know that it is made possible only by our weakness. For the sake of ourselves and our neighbor Muslims also, we have to discard our weakness. We can appeal to our neighbor Muslims, ‘Please don’t be cruel to us. No religion can be based on genocide’—but this kind of appeal is nothing, but the weeping of the weak person. When the low pressure is created in the air, storm comes spontaneously; nobody can stop it for sake for religion. Similarly, if weakness is cherished and be allowed to exist, torture comes automatically—nobody can stop it. Possibly, the Hindus and the Muslims can make a fake friendship to each other for a while, but that cannot last forever. As long as you don’t purify the soil, which grows only thorny shrubs you cannot expect any fruit.”

He believed that Universalism is the only solution to divisive and destructive influences of religions. He wanted India to hold on to the Indian ethos and believed that other religious visions were detrimental to the intellectual and moral progress of humanity. “There are two religions in earth, which have distinct enmity against all other religions. These two are Christianity and Islam. They are not just satisfied with observing their own religions, but are determined to destroy all other religions. That’s why the only way to make peace with them is to embrace their religions.” (Original works of Rabindranath Vol. 24 page 375, Vishwa Bharti; 1982.)

Tagore had compared Semitic religions to Bolshevism, which was spreading very fast in the country in those days. Communism is also a sequel to Christianity. In the article, “Aatmaparichapa”, published in his book Parichaya, Tagore states: “When two-three different religions claim that only their own religions are true and all other religions are false, their religions are only ways to Heaven, conflicts cannot be avoided. Thus, fundamentalism tries to abolish all other religions. This is called Bolshevism in religion. Only the path shown by the Hinduism can relieve the world form this meanness.”

In an interview to the Times of India (18-4-1924), Tagore states: “A very important factor which is making it almost impossible for Hindu-Muslim unity to become an accomplished fact is that the Muslims cannot confine their patriotism to any one country. I had frankly asked (the Muslims) whether in the event of any Mohammedan power invading India, they (Muslims) would stand side by side with their Hindu neighbours to defend their common land. I was not satisfied with the reply I got from them… Even such a man as Mr. Mohammad Ali (one of the famous Ali brothers, the leaders of the Khilafat Movement-the compiler) has declared that under no circumstances is it permissible for any Mohammedan, whatever be his country, to stand against any Mohammedan.”

Solution on Individual Level and National Level

Related blog https://danasurdanu.blogspot.com/2021/07/quality-matters-in-science-thinking.html

I have been thinking about courtiers problems, many of us have been thinking. Some of us join RSS, some make donations, some tweet.

We have opinions and  some of the frequently discussed suggestions are

1. Focus on technical Education

2. Focus on bringing right curriculum which teaches to make a patriot of a child. Problem is it is very difficult considering the grip leftists have on system.

3. Focus on economy, which has again many aspects.

4. Focus on poverty eradication.

5. Focus on legislations like common civil code, population control etc.

6. Focus on character building, main goal of RSS.

In every one of these Modi Ji must be trying his best. Trying to get more FDI etc.

I would personally try to encourage people to question, to feed their curiosity, educate and develop ability for critical thinking. Because we will need that to solve all other problems. And we will need many such people. India has serious scarcity of people who can think critically and responsibly. Our families and social circles are devoid of such people. We don't question on why and how. We think we know everything, and we mostly live a feeling driven life.

Mindset is very important. We see many kids born to wealthy parents don't get anywhere in the intelligence and education. Because they don't have the mindset. Only money cant solve all the problems.

Jews who immigrated to Israel from various parts of Europe, who make up half of population in Israel, they had a big chunk of people who were able to think. Mind is biggest resource, not the oil, minerals, rivers or fertile land.

It is hardest thing, becoming rational, thinking correct and thinking in detail in the right priority of things. But there is no alternative. All the wealth wont help unless we develop this capital. It is my biggest failure as a person.

It was biggest failure of past generations in India when we were Islamized. Our degradation had started before that. And we have been incredibly slow in learning science and critical thinking in the modern age.

Nalanda university had a nine story library, before it was burned by invaders from the middle east in 1199. Books kept smoldering for months. But if it was so, then why was it constrained in the walls of few universities in India? Why was it not in the hands and minds of educated people across India. A book in library or bookshop is as good as toilet paper. For the people who could assess the value of the book will also acquire it. And to accurately critique something one needs to read it. Nothing happens in isolation. If people read those books they won't be as ignorant as they were those days. If there was wisdom, people would have reorganized, rearmed, rebuilt. It doesn't happen that some invader burns the university and kills the people and it ends. Germany acquired France in ww2, people did not change in those periods, they rebuilt their life and culture after occupation ended. And if masses did not have wisdom in that time 1199 AD, a lot of what we feel might be blind man's description of the room.

The process of thinking, letting mind explore the subjects freely (and responsibly) has not occurred to we Hindus to the degree it happened to Vivekananda. We change everything into our shape. We see what we want to see, we only adopted bhakti of Vivekananda. So a senior manager of my first company in Mumbai asks me, "why do you have Vivekananda's pic on your desk? You believe in Vivekananda?" I said I don't believe in anything....she couldn't understand it, finally I said "yes I believe in Vivekananda.". She was ISKCON lady, counsellor at ISKCON Juhu. A friend from Seattle who is always perturbed by my questions and criticisms, says the same: "OK, so you like Vivekananda, so you should follow Vivekananda's teachings." It was beyond his comprehension that I read Vivekananda as I read Bertrand Russel. There is no faith into my mind, and I don't take him as a last arbiter on everything.

A parallel example I would give of Aligarh Muslim University. Sir Syed thought bringing critical thinking among Muslims is important for their good and their strength, but later on AMU became another madarsah which it is now. Muslims changed AMU into what they wanted to see it. They only study parts of Sir Syed's life which supports Islam. AMU was hub of Pakistan movement.

To a certain degree we Hindus have become followers of magic and we always want magic. So Vivekanada has been reduced to a figure of magic, another demigod.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was mailing to a friend, when discussing about Tagore:

"Like Naipaul his critique is very accurate. Very strong description of strengths of Indian civilization and faults which have accrued. The things which we think of now, he already saw them 100 years ago.  Most of Indian writers write crap, lies, and deceptive fiction, twist facts to get money and accolades and to be politically correct. But Naipaul (only racially Indian) and Tagore were honest.

Feelings are contagious. Feelings spread among masses. Rigorous work, no matter how important, does not spread, because of its inability to generate passions among normal people. People remember and follow impassioned rituals.

Intensity of glory or rumor has no relation with knowledge of the work among masses. It largely depends on the confidence and passion people show in their feelings while evoking that glory and fidelity of mimicry or copying among masses depends on that. Or to say the ability of those stories of glory or rumor to arouse passionate feelings or conform to a person's existing biases. So what masses adopt is a twisted narrative which suits their bias. Nothing changes, their bias becomes even more strong.

Original works which are important and acts of genius like in the case of Tagore, Naipaul, and Vivekananda are forgotten. So Tagore and Vivekananda bring glory to Indians and especially Bengalis. It makes Bengalis very arrogant.

However most of them haven't read his critical works. And if read, not pondered."

Reason is not a western Christian phenomena. Reason in west came as a reaction to Christianity, against the Christianity. And foundation was laid by re-study of works of ancient Greek philosophers, such as Aristotle, Socrates, Cicero,  who were idolaters like we Hindus.

Gandhi, Vivekananda, Tagore, Allama Iqbal, all of them were affected by west.

Allama Iqbal came as a Islamist, as his reaction to hurt ego in the west, went on to appeal for creation of Pakistan and superiority of Islamic faith over reason of west.

Gandhi became reactionary, when he was thrown out of train in South Africa. Although he called for non-violent means, he was hurt at the soul.

Tagore and Vivekanada did not let the hurt feelings damage their judgement and they were able to do the right diagnosis and accept the truth. But I feel masses liked Gandhi more than Tagore and Vivekananda, because Gandhi appealed to emotions of simple villager. Vivekanada being a spiritual master, was still very much a man who argued with reason. Gandhi being darling of pseudo-secularists, was full of dogma and superstition.

Why Polytheism Makes Sense

Three religions which emanated from middle east practice monotheism.

But then there is Jesus son of the God and Trinity in Christianity, Mohammed Rasool of Allah in Islam. Christianity and Islam are poor copy of Judaism.

https://danasurdanu.blogspot.com/2020/08/birth-of-christianity-and-islam-from.html

Point is that, can these three religious groups decide which one God is true God? Then there are more than 200 denominations in Islam and thousands in Christianity. These three religions have always been in conflict with each other. In any religious conflict, one can always find either Christianity or Islam to be involved.

Problem is that there can be as many descriptions of one God as many brains on the earth. And if everyone insists on his version being true then it will cause conflict and disaster. A tribe in Isolated adman island or in pacific may have his own one God.

Polytheism creates room for free thinking religious ideas, and polytheism is result of this. It doesn't interfere natural freedom humans enjoy to develop their natural imagination and faculties. Monotheist Abrahamic versions are like dictatorship. It won't last forever, as soon as people have freed themselves, they will have many ideas individually and there will be diversion.

Suppose you are a teacher, you ask children to make a painting of village life. They will make different paintings. Only when they blindly copy, or make color Xerox that they all will make same painting. If people can differ so much on painting their imagination of village life, then religion, God is a much diverse and broad subject. Monotheism practiced by Christians and Islam is one such Xeroxing/copying.

It is maturity in the Hinduism which says "Poets see the same God in all different forms".

In Hindus, Sikh, Jain, those who follow Confucius or Buddhism, don't have such hard beliefs in most cases which can cause conflict. There has hardly been any serious religious conflict among them in recent history at least.

I think Hindus are tendency to adopt new Gods and accept many Gods, because they might have intermingled in ancient times without bloodshed in the name of Gods. So Gods of different tribes were accepted mutually.

My house owner in Mumbai practices Sanatan Hinduism, his relative who live upstairs to my room, practice Buddhism. One cleaning lady from Bihar told me that, she lives in the premises of a Buddhist temple, she cleans the temple and gets to live in the lieu, but she practiced traditional Sanatan Hinduism. I have seen Iskcon temples visited by Jain and Parsee people. During Covid, RSS prepared food in the premises of the Jain temple. I remember that in my place in Bihar, marriages were held in guest house of a Digambar Jain temple. There was only one Sikh guy in my bachelor class in Kolkata and he followed all the Hindu values, visited temples and gurudwara both. In my home town in Bihar, Sikh were part of Durga Puja pandal organizers, and so were Jains.

I was explaining to a western friend:

"Nobody can live idle, only a true yogi can live still, idle. People submerge themselves into something. Good people submerge themselves in devotion or work. Both are good. Some higher minds get busy in thinking, questioning, and philosophy. Inferior people find recourse in drink or drug or women.

Here yogi is not necessarily a devotee of God. Yogi is a person who has attained control over his mind and his response to sensual objects. Yogi is one who can meditate in complete stillness. He may or may not believe in God. But he lives simple and honest life.

Here an atheist, a Jain, a Shaivite, a Vaishnava, a Sikh, a Buddhist, a Chinese Confucius follower, they all shared these thought control techniques. And the word yogi is used for any of them. Many branches of Hindus were atheist. Jainism and Hinayana Buddhism are more closer to atheism.

So called religion was taken like study of science and psychological aspects. Just like scientific method remain common to all scientists, yoga, mind techniques are common to different parts of eastern philosophy and they shared and enriched each other."

In China Confucius and Buddha both were followed and revered. In Japan, Buddhism and Shinto are practiced within the walls of house. There has never been any conflict. Only religious conflict happened in Japan when Christian missionaries came. Pluralism, tolerance did not come from leftist movements and constitution. Tolerance is natural and intrinsic to Indic and eastern spiritual culture and this has been part and parcel of our culture for times immemorial, it did not require any police, any law, and enforcement. And even with all the constitutional rights and woke culture, Islam and Christianity can't coexist in peace with others, specially with each other. If that was so, USA would not hesitate in taking refugees from Islamic countries on the same scale as it took white from Europe or Latin Americans.

Harmony and respect comes in India from the Vedic poets who saw life and soul in everything, trees, animals, birds. Who loved and saw spirit in rivers, rocks, mountain, trees. Seeing God within oneself and in everyone outside. Seeing oneself within and out everywhere as a part of the world. It manifests in our worship of rivers, multiple Gods in the forms of animals, birds. It forms basis for our tolerance. Such a belief is much more efficient for imagination, harmony. Unlike Abrahamic faiths in which God is an external entity and only Jesus or Mohammed are....their one God....and everything else is false.

Lin Yutang: "Not until we see the richness of the Hindu mind and its essential spirituality can we understand India or hope to share with it the freedom and equality of peoples which we in some lame and halting fashion are trying to create out of this morally and politically chaotic world."

Christians and Muslim supremacist's don't like it. So they brought their dirty religious concepts here. First Europeans tried to invent among us as many religions and religious groups as possible. And then they malign the Indic philosophy, values, culture. Trying to paint us as intolerant, like them. They can't see others not fighting like them, and not sharing the blame. So leftists conveniently say religion is opium and causes violence, but Islam is good.

https://danasurdanu.blogspot.com/2015/03/religion-forced-concept-into-indian.html

Indian people live with so less money, but still remain happy. Here expenses are less. Simple life style, minimalism values help. People don't drink or smoke and meat consumption is very less. 99% people in village never have divorce like things, so that helps. Root cause of minimalism is spiritual beliefs.

Gita and Upanishad, say living beings are soul, rocks, mountains, rivers, trees everything. We are one with them, so we don't need to acquire them. And acquisition is foolish. Because one day we all depart. Although most people don't think that much. But some people do and they influence the society.

Hindu always had multiple views about God, eternal religion etc, and Hindus are in habit of settling it through dialogue, what we consider Dharmic and our views. There were six broad schools of philosophy among Hindus. And we existed with that. Vaishana, Nirankai, Shaiv and many other sects.

But there is a thin line between Dharma and Adharmic. What Islam does is adharmic, asking for supremacy over every other culture, if needed with sword.

___________________________________________________________________________________

One of my emails dated 6 December 2021: I am not heartless. I take only message, I don't accept things literally. Buddha was atheist, so was Mahavir. This is Marxist atheism which is there in west. I allow myself the luxury of metaphors, stories, and variety. It allows me to go into depths of human creativity, imagination, intelligence. I make my life easier. But I always said I don't believe in anything magical. I agree and accept everything Darwin said. Hinyana Buddhism is atheistic faith. Yoga too can be used by both atheist and theist. Samkhya, Mimansa, Nyaya, Vaisheshika were atheist kind of philosophies. And these are common to Hindu, Jain, Buddhist. And I am wise enough to have my own thought process. And to not accept Western Marxist terminologies more than it suits me.

"It is not God that is worshipped but the authority that claims to speak in His name. "And that authority can be no form or God imaginable. It might just be physical processes. It is abstraction. Like say name of a company say Microsoft. Now there is no Microsoft human or animal or bird, or tree Microsoft has no life. But we say things like "Microsoft shares dropped" "Microsoft is doing well", "Microsoft is best company to work in", "Microsoft will go very high". Now who is Microsoft? It is just an abstraction. Same way I think about Hindu deities. They are useful tools.

Western atheism has developed in reaction to against western theism. So it has that acrimony against any form of symbol, tool, metaphor. Western belief is one extreme, western atheism is another, there is no harmony between them. But here human imagination accepts full spectrum of beliefs or lack of it and there is more harmony. That flexibility and harmony, that maturity is there. I can debate with a person who is devout like my parents, and it wont upset them. Like most scientists debate on subject or topic, but that does not become them.

Extreme in the sense there are those who claim literal belief in the Bible or Quran. and then there are those who completely reject the Quran or Bible. There is less room for something in between. Either you believe or you don't.

9 Dec 2021: Symbolism works, and it is good as long as you work with goals in mind, with first principles, as long as symbols don't become a goal in themselves (due to ignorance, inertia of dark mental habits), it works very well.

I am more efficient, my thinking is more efficient and developed when I am writing to real beings, when I am talking in my mind. Abstraction takes little more energy even for a person like me who is very good at abstractions. Brain doesn't likes to waste energy. And to brain real entities, idols, images of god, feels more real. If a person can't imagine something, he will not be able to spend energy on it. If a person can't visualize something, he will quit it.

Just like people quit mathematics, but even a poor man can admire a painting. We like to have images of our ancestors, we like to recall their name. We put flowers on photographs of martyrs.  What is in name? Name is another symbol. So according to Islam name should also be haram.

And according to leftists everything which is not related to bread and butter is haram (with convenient exceptions). Reducing a live entity sensitive creature to that is not wise. In-fact many of the Devas' of Aryans were ancestors and those ancestors they elevated with time to the level of Deva (Deva is not God, both have different qualities) So we Vedas talk about 33000 Devas.

Adi Shankara mostly propagated Nirgun Brahman (Brahman without image/idol etc.). Ramanuja and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu propagated Saguna Brahman, (Brahman with symbols, artistic expressions, idols/images). And even though debates and logicwise Shankara was better than anyone except Buddha and Mahavira, but it was Ramanuja who got more done. Abstraction worked for an intelligent man like Adi Shankara. But even Shankara used symbols (as a secondary). As Lin Yutang said something like, "a western man looks into something and thinks this idea will work or not. Chinese wisdom will also require, that idea suits to human nature or not, and then only idea can qualify."

We chant or recite some anthem with feeling without understanding it. What is important, from where does the result come from? Feeling or our active thinking and interpretation, solemnity and earnestness in the sense of meaning about words uttered? Feelings also have solemnity and earnestness, but not the understanding of the meaning. Why does the tape recorder or loud speaker does not become patriot?

Result come from active thinking and implementation; solemnity, earnestness, emotions are power and energy put behind that thinking, like horses driving chariot. But horse doesn't have google map, so horse driving chariot is not meaningful, horse can only take chariot to destination when charioteer guides him into action and in the right direction. Otherwise it is no different from eating for the sake of eating, gorging on a large amount of food; same way praying for the sake of prayer.

A wise charioteer will not starve or kill his horses, he will merely rein in his horses, without diminishing their strength permanently. A wise man/woman will be solemn, serious, and will have emotions; but he/she will not be guided by emotions, instead he/she will use emotions in the right direction. So saguna Brahman was important in the development of Hindu thought. Nirguna brahman is important for the first principles, to not lose sense of reality, to not get lost in your own creation of mind, in labyrinth.

In Islam and Judaism one their God is invisible, second there is no permission to love their God. So it comes in the form of secrecy and riddle; there is distance. In Hinduism love for God is acceptable/normal and love towards Gods is visible and it has been expressed more explicitly. There is freedom to use all horses for the attainment of the pursuit. Song, natures beauty, trees, mountains rivers all have been used to find means and see manifestations. It is much more detailed story.

I was thinking about Sankranti. As Carl Sagan said, only in Hindu books there is a mature imagination of the cosmos. Sankranti is probably the oldest festival of India, much before they learned to read and write. They observed day and night, they thought about day and night in the life of moon, hence krishan paksha and shukla paksha, day and night in life of sun, hence uttarayan and dhakshinayan, day and night in the life of Brahmand, when Brahma dreams and creates a new cosmos which is day in the life of Brahma, then Brahma sleeps, and all the planets start dying, nothing is alive, all is dead. Then Brahma again creates a new cosmos. They didn't know science and big bang, it was just an imagination. It happens that all planets, suns shine bright and then they start losing their brightness, become cold, drawn back towards one central mass, dead again.

So a wise man/woman will not give up emotions, he/she will not strive to become emotionless. But he/she will merely try to manage them. You are allowed to use your imagination, to dream, as long as you know what you are doing. As long as you know what is what. These things are tools, means to attainment. When you lose that sense, and start seeing any absurd imagination as reality, and start rejecting reality, then there is a problem. You are not charioteer, you too have become horse only. That is ignorance. It is not that imagination, dream, metaphors are bad. They are very useful tools.

We can see the result that Bhakti movements made significant contribution in India's (common mans) spiritual development. Advaita is limited to intellectuals. Swami Dayanad Saraswati tried it, but Iskcon is more successful than Arya Samaj. Global effect is that religion in its most developed form can be found in India, more than any place else. There are 36 Gitas, 110 upanishad, 18 Puranas, Aranyaks, Shrutis, Smriti.....add to that works of Jain and Buddhism. Each of the guru in Nalanda and Vikramshila Universities used to be author of several books, and that was there for 1300 years. Buddhism uses symbolism in form of stories, metaphors, abstract philosophies. There are more terminologies related to psychology in Buddhism and Jainism than terms developed in the entire world and field of psychology outside of India. It is efficient and hence man here developed much broader developed detailed imagination. As I believed even our thinking is simulation, our perception is simulation/symbolic. Brain works that way.

Compare to that, so far nobody has probably written any commentary on Quran, to explain it to 21st century and all the centuries in between. Because Muslims take it as final word. They cant allow a single alphabet to go here and there, they like to recite it in pure Arabic as it was in 7th century, even if they don't understand the meaning. There is one advantage, they are less confused. They read only one book, and that makes whole thing lot easier.

Commentaries on Bhagwad Gita, Upanishad were written in every century, to make it accessible to that time and situation etc. In the past Greek and Roman philosophy, spirituality was much more developed.

Another highly developed religion is Judaism. Judaism is religion of one God. But their theology developed in the historical past which was much more diverse, before their kings finally zeroed on one God. There was diversity of views. A lot of work was done for many centuries before it was finalized. There are 24 books in Hebrew Bible. Old testament has 39 books. They did not cut things on the first day. There was some possibility in Islam with Sufis. But Sufis were cut down by Deobandis, Salafis, Barelwi.....Taliban...etc. To the effect that very limited independence of thought exists in present so called Sufis.

My view is that the question of Dharma is open and eternal (as long as there is spirit of Dharma, people are talking and seeking to improve, not when people start political games in the name of Dharma). It will always be debated, as needs change with time and place. It can't be bound by time or person or institution or group. No single person or book can give a complete answer to everyone. There can not be any final word, neither by Krishna, nor by Buddha, nor by anyone else. It will remain open forever. Just like mathematics remains open. Science remains open. Everyone's free to challenge Newton's work. That is the way we can get better.

Advaita Vedanta: Adi Shankara who wrote those shlokas for shiva and shakti, in Soundarya Lahari and Shivananda Lahari, he himself propounded Advaita Vedanta too.

Advaita Vedant says there is no two, our inner self is one with this world, rock, mountains, trees, rivers, everything that exists. And rest sensations felt by mind as happiness and sorrow, smell, sight, sound etc are temporary. It calls self identity and ego to be delusion. So Adi Shankara knew he was being poetic, seriously poetic. But he didn't mean them literally. Advaita Vedanta also said that there are no two, meaning no God which is different from who we are in inner nature, most absolute form. It says you don't have to look outside for something, some God, you are part of it. It is within  you and it is everywhere. So there can't be prophets, holymen, Gods as separate special entities. Everything which exists is part of the same absolute nature, which we called Brahman/Universe (different from Brahman used for person, that interpretation came later). It says that rocks, me, you, cow, dog, rivers these all are part of the same reality. And that perception in which we see things as two or many is delusion (not real), a temporary sensation. So all the reasons and explanations which we use to make differences are temporary in nature and caused by incomplete understanding. It is stronger than monotheism, there is no confusion about who was the special Gods prophet, who would be last prophet etc. But it accepts poetic arts.

From Anjali Gorg: "It is difficult to uproot a living tree, but a dry one will fall by itself. Sanatana Dharma is a mighty tree whose roots run deep and under whose green canopy many civilizations have thrived. It is a way of life, which has crystallized over thousands of years through a system of checks and balances. Empathy to fellow creations is at the core of it. Anthropologists loosely refer to this lot as “pagans”. On the other hand, organized religions rose basically as political movements and their founders went on to be hailed as Gods. We now hear people saying politics should not be mixed with religion, but the truth is the process had begun much earlier – when the very notion of organized religion was seeded. Expansionism was intrinsic to these religions, and they used all tools at their disposal, including politics, to further their agenda across the world.

India or Bharat has always been a sour grape for them, but they didn’t lose heart and kept improvising their methods to cut the mighty tree of Sanatana Dharma to size. When their swords and guns failed to yield results, they devised a more potent war of ideas. A key part of this was to make the natives feel ashamed of themselves so that they would want to switch to (read convert to) something they need not be ashamed of. The subaltern is gradually fed with the idea that he/she is not civilized and that only the western ideas and ideals can rescue them. Language, gender, food, Gods – all become tools in this surrogate warfare."

From Quora: https://qr.ae/pGm7Sd

"Because, like most belief systems Hinduism encounters, it simply ate it. Hindu theology is very malleable, so porous and fluid that it can embrace virtually any spiritual belief or practice as one of its own. While many other religions would have confronted and challenged the Buddhist growth directly, Hinduism absorbed it. The question of whether or not Buddhism is another offshoot of Hindu belief is still a valid one. As such, there is little motivation for Hindus to convert to another faith. (As the Christian missionaries quickly found out.) There is virtually no religious/spiritual claim one can make that Hindus do not readily agree to....except for the absolute ones. (Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father; Mohammad is the LAST prophet of Allah, we are THE CHOSEN people of God, etc.)"

Method

There is a difference in western and eastern approach. In west system is expected to work top down.
Government is everything, has to take care of every citizen, punish crime, support children, ensure care for old.
In East government is ideally expected to be a facilitator. Children are concern of family, family co-operate with society.
Too much about tables, facts, charts. More focus on facts. It seems that they see everything so in mechanical fashion.
But lack of judgement, values. Individual wishes to have all the freedom and only responsible to government.
Thing is that without judgement those facts and figures often seem to lead nowhere.
And they get even facts wrong, because of lack of value orientation. They ask for facts in debates, dry cold facts. And ignore development of values.
Until a person like me can turn their partial facts on them. IQ test is one example, showing  ridiculous results, and western over reliance on IQ tests.
Everywhere they tend to do that in non-scientific subjects.
As if those things will get value and respect only when a western will approve it with his data.
They apply their laboratory methods to areas of very different nature. And hold the rights of deciding as they have control over mechanics.
Then only it will be considered legitimate, and worth anything based on scores in that data.

Western people use the same trick of computer popping intelligence based on some questions in debates. They lay some rules and they master those mechanical rules, and start their trickery.

These false Gods have to be replied using their own language and have to be shown their place, humbled down. We have to do so without losing our other faculties/abilities which have not yet themselves to the words and using them for strength.

One of the reasons why I feel revulsion to their idea of one God and atheism.
Seen in their  black and white  idea of either One God or polytheism/pagan or atheism.
They can't imagine more. It always feels so gross.

Western methods no doubt extremely useful. But are not everything.

In life there has to be some goal, towards which passion of the man is directed. I see that most people seem to be lost and then they either get busy in chores or look for satisfaction in alcohol or worse things, these are dangerous people, they will cling to anything to make life bearable. That is why I think Bhakti is good and simple. People doing japa of ram nam is not harming anyone, is self contented, whatever work he does, he will add something.

HOW RELIGION AND OTHER MASS THINGS WORKS

Suppose you have been given an island on the earth and you have no connection to humanity. On that island there are 100 female kids, 100 male kids, men, women, old etc. All of them have no memory of the past. They have to start afresh. And you are lord of that island. The best way to have an order and to organize people, is to tell them everything what they should do. Don't tell them to think, that will create a mess, a civil war. Tell them in every conceivable detail a complete philosophy, which pleases their ego, which tells them how great they are, when to shit, when to eat and who created earth, who created them, answer all their doubts, give them a very simple answer which dumbest kid on the island can believe without any thinking.

If your theory fulfills these boundary conditions, you will have a social order. You will have created a religion. Religion is a perfect story which can control the human mind and take away any need for thinking. People will hold to it, because it will take away the biggest burden of their lives, burden of thinking. You will become the God of those people, if you want to. You just have to liberate people of burden of any thinking, and satisfy their ego. One God or many Gods or no God does not matter. Maybe you are not happy with only yourself being God, then have more God. Whatever you want, communists had zero God.

Remember your story should be good enough for masses to believe, and satisfy their bias; if they start doubting then they will be in tension, and you will be in peril; they will start leaving your herd. You are the shepherd of your herd, you must give them food and water and psychological safety. Masses are your customer, they should be pleased in best way.

Same way corrupt systems work when everything is well set to great detail. Because people won't act automatically to improve the system. People always reduce effort, energy waste.

Do anything, you want to gather people for something, some organization based on some criteria; do not ask them to think and mental work. Give them fun, enjoyment, luxury. Tell them how great they are. In Mumbai I went to attend Institute of Engineers event in 2019, because organizer was my senior. There was lot of nice talk by speaker without any meaning; clapping, lamp lighting and then in the end there was dinner. That is how corruption in NGOs, media, politics, educational systems work in India.

Even very smart people; so called intellectuals fall in this trap. They are more likely to do so, in my experience. They consider themselves elevated, and they have bigger ego which they need to satisfy. They are more likely to fall victim to simplification, bias, bigotry. Story on which they feed is more sophisticated.

Thing is that zero thinking. Nobody should need to think. You may say that it doesn’t work because there is always somebody that does that (thinking). But if that thinking man's thoughts asked others to think then others will reject his thoughts. He will be of no consequence. If he thought on behalf of everyone and brought gifts only (no effort) for others, no extra work  then only his thinking will be appreciated by the masses. So they like innovators and scientists who produce new technology. So it works, people will take care of you if you think and put them in trouble, people will put you in trouble, that will take care of your thinking.

Conclusion is that you can enslave the animal within us, by telling it any story which covers everything, explains everything which he and she sees in life. Most of the time that storyteller is we ourselves.
And it doesn't come at a single point of time, we keep creating new stories, passively or actively; that story millions of stories we for in course of our lives, at different time points. We keep creating, storing, modifying, forgetting these stories all the time.

You tell a story with less fact, great detail, that is more likely to feel real, than a story which has great facts but less detail. I was reading Quran yesterday, I was searching references about Jews, 22 references all of them were work of depraved mind, creating hatred against Jews. In Quran, Idolaters have been put on the lowest rung, almost like animals. Then Jews, then Christians, then Muslim on top. But against whom the maximum hate is directed? Jews. Because the Quran goes to great length, 22 references against Jews, giving a very clear picture about why a Jew is vile and leaving no place for confusion. Idolater even if put on the lowest rung, there is not that kind of detail against him, so it is not that clear how much to hate idolater, mostly they would overlook the idolater. So write a fiction with great detail, it feels like more real. Tell a real story, great fact, with no appeal to emotion, no detail story; it wont sell. Leftists do that, they write great fiction.

Kamala Harris might not have faced any problem ever. She was a rich powerful lawyer, enjoying best quality life, consumerism.
But she kept recalling her mothers' humble background, struggle, her fathers black background problems.
Her mother was from strong background in India as we know. How else those days she could go to USA.
She intentionally kept using her race during the campaign.
She accused Biden of racist bigot during debates, now she is VP working with him.

KH is not a victim, she is a bully, who would intentionally use and threaten anyone when she can't get her way with her racist card.
Kamala Harris leads a privileged life. Politicians in the U.S., especially those obsessed with "identity politics" love to accuse other people of being bigots merely for having different opinions or being from a different political party.

It is same in India, powerful people from very strong background use their backward caste and gender
to get votes in elections, and to shield themselves from corruption charges.

I read somewhere:  "The disturbing thing about Hitler is the ideas about eugenics that he supported so strongly were also supported by leading academics at major universities in the U.S. and UK, by the so-called "progressives" in the U.S., and by many upper class people. The rich wanted to get rid of any poor person they deemed "unfit", and they applied the label generously. In the U.S., they used sterilization, but I often wonder how long it would have taken for the eugenicists in the U.S. to have moved on to killing, if the camps in Germany hadn't forced the eugenics movement into a reckoning and disbandment."

Eugenics, racism was done by the British as well. They classified Indian people on the basis of multiple races. And they found Martial races; Punjabi Muslim, Sikh, Rajput, Jat etc, these castes were lebelled martial, others non-martial.

And those who were labeled martial, still use that label with pride.

Hitler did a lot of wrong, but he was not a hedonist. He was very serious. He is the biggest victim of false liberalism in the west, which to me feels more like a drama of people who  want to flaunt their liberal credentials.

Once during the campaign, Democrats herded together some psychiatrists to go on the news and declare Trump as mentally ill; a tactic that political opponents use to eliminate each other. In Russia they used to confine political opponents in mental institutions.

Hate against Hitler has been put in great detail, it leaves no room for doubt, nobody has to think anything; he would win the prize of most hated human being ever by record margin if a poll is held.
People are hypocrite, they speak all bad against a person when he lost and he is dead. You don't have to think, there is no cost. Instead there is some prize, you will be considered good by shouting abuses against Hitler. But very same people in Germany saw him as a God, liked Mein Kemf. I have Jewish friends, and I agree with them on their views about wrong done by Hitler, but Hitler was not only culprit.

I saw American TV propaganda against Japan, that too in great detail. Japan didn't do anything which other western powers like Britain did not do. Japan did same things on a bigger scale. But all the blame for WWII was put on Japan.

Point is that, to do good, to do bad, to do anything you need to tell a great detailed story. And that story becomes truth for masses. To attack, to defend, to counter, in all scenarios you need to tell a great story.
Doesn't matter if the story is objectively true or not. Now in 21st century your weapon is your story, your oration. You can't fight with swords and guns now, you have to achieve same objectives of defending and attacking using words.

And in day to day life it feels very silly, when people who themselves are victims of some story or  their own bias; people who are themselves manipulated, they call others to be manipulated.

Appetite of the rich, is very important for them, so they might like to dine in some famous restaurant in New York, Hotel Taj, Japanese restaurant  etc. But is that experience of taste special and only limited to them? Maybe hyenas enjoy more while sucking the bone marrow of a week old rotting carcasses. Maybe vultures enjoy it more. How do we know? Millions of animal species, which of them have more ability to enjoy the taste.

Same with regards to physical experiences between opposite genders, maybe pigs have more of that feeling.

But we upper middle class and rich humans behave as if those experiences exist only in us, special and rational; can not occur in animals, not shared by animals; Or as if when animals  enjoy the same feeling it is animalistic feeling; but when we enjoy these feelings become rational, important. It is like a cloth is not just a cloth; that a cloth is inferior if worn by ordinary man, but same cloth becomes superior when worn by someone special.

It is same problem with western people, they feel their biases are not bias, it is rationality. They are perfectly rational, so their feelings and emotions are also perfectly rational. They can't be misguided.

Tragic thing is that people keep copying stories from other people, just based on their gut feeling, their bias; without even knowing. It is like a virus passing from body to body without getting detected. I was thinking once, which virus will result in more damage, one which is lethal but has immediate and clear symptoms, or other which is less lethal, but invisible. The Later one is more dangerous. You can deal with a strong enemy if it is visible, but an enemy weak in itself can be very strong if it is invisible, that invisibility gives it tremendous power. And to strip it down, you need ability for discrimination.

By detail, I didn't mean detailed analysis.
This detail I talked about above is detailed in fulfilling your needs.
What you want on the weekend, that it tells, that on Sunday do nothing pray to God.
That when you are sick you need some reason and it tells you that God will take care of your diseases, you have done some sin etc.

It answers everything; and it takes care of your questions in such a way that you accept it as your own thinking, it passes through your immune system. It is invisible. Doubt may strengthen your immune system or it may become an autoimmune, attacking your own good beliefs also unnecessarily. Doubt without deep knowledge, experience, logic and coherence may not yield results. And knowledge is never complete.

Emotions are vehicles like genes, and reason/useful thinking is path, like mutation.
Reason allows change, intervention.
Emotion is like a car,  reason is like GPS.
A car without GPS will reach nowhere.
Usually in society most people have emotion alone, no ability to change, they never change.
Just change goes haywire, change in the right direction only works.
How societies evolve is because there are some people who feel and reason both; these are special people, these become Bertrand Russel, or Emerson.
With reason they can manage and direct their feelings. With reason they develop algorithms to guide their feelings.
And some of these people also take the work of guiding the society.
If 98% people feel in India, 1% being psychopath and 1 % both think and feel.
Of those some will produce output which can be used to intervene in the emotional life of society.
This intervention allows a society to change, when 98% people allow it.
So even though 98% people are not able to reason, those 0.1% who produce useful stuff, they guide 98.9% to change, to a new standard.
That keeps a balance in society.

The religions which have survived, are very robust stories, just like most species  might have got lost,
Religion is also like species; thoughts and intuition born in human mind and there can be as many as the humans.
And then there is standardization to reduce the work of imagining again and recreating everything; it makes finding answers easier.
You know everything by age of 12, how earth by created in muddy pit etc.
Else you will be confused till deathbed.

The religions which have survived this process of standardization; religion of Christ or Mohammed or Hindus (and its offshoots) are very robust stories.
Like all standardized things, all religions are mostly based on faith and habit.
Most religions have been dumb at one point of time, such as religion of Hindus, Mohammed and Christ. And have evolved at different pace.
And it takes some intervention by thoughtful men, just like mutation in genes to allow changes to occur.
But like living creatures aim of mutation is to increase survivability.
Thinking evolved to increase survivability, not to become clever and use contraception (for explanation).
Other things such as such as science became symbiotic or parasitic of this instrument and started using them for purposes other than survival and procreation.
Religions are stories are based on faith and these don't allow thoughts which are against its survival.
This faith is master of thinking brain most of the time.
In principle there can be as many religions as number of people.
In some religions (some people or their personal belief) and atheists allow for intervention, their structure is such that they have symbiotic relation to some extent with external thoughts algorithms using the thought process of mind.
Religion of Hindus and its offshoots allows for some change as its base is not one person. So there is some adaptability.
Religion of Buddha is different, it took off from a high platform, when upanishad had already developed a lot.
So it was quite intellectual and highly evolved from inception and is easily adaptable.
It may last longest along with its parent religion of Hindus, before it dies to become a purely philosophical study, bereft of emotional faith.
Some religions like religion of Mohammed, leave very little scope for adaptability.
So it is daily struggle with change.
Its core structure does not allow a person to think, and mutate against its core structure, all thoughts must only be directed to its preservation.
It is pure faith, so Naipaul wrote his book "among the believers."
Core structure of this story has an antivirus which blocks any virus like science or reason from penetrating its control over mind.
And all the Trojan viruses like Salman Rushdie are thrown out.

Metaphors:

In some cases people can ascribe happiness and sadness to some reason something.
In many, it can be that there is no reason for being sad, there is no reason for being happy.
If you are sad then you are sad; if you are happy, then you are happy.
If you are in some state then you are in that state, there is no other reason.

There is no reason why chicken is chicken. There is no reason why elephant is elephant;
but to these we ascribe rules of karma, and God and what not.

So be careful if you are in some state, some situation, which is undesirable.
If you want to get out of it, just get out of it. Do not look for why, it is not there.

If you examine a lot, and critically, many of the reasons will seem like a façade.
Often there is no prize for slogging, except for those who feel it.

If you have to go from Mumbai to Pune physically, you have to think about taxi or train whatever.
But if you have to do so in your dream or if you are writing a story, why limit yourself to those mediums, why not take fastest vehicle imaginable? Why not go in infinitesimal small time? Why not go in no time ? What binds you. A lot of suffering we suffer in imagination, in our stories. It is a dream or nightmare we live with open eyes. The man who gives up life defending country, same man doesn't give a thing for free in life. If it is the story which makes you suffer then change the story. Why bother even about story? You know that story has to be found.  Just change, don't even bother about story.

It meant your state of mind and inability to move to other state depended a lot on story inside your mind. Not on your karma etc. Then if you change your story or have a different story, everything changes. So it depended on what story you could find, what story you could form or what story hit your mind, it can come from others or intuition or from anywhere.

You are not an individual in this way, you are one of the 7 billon  balls on the billiard table, and any ball can get energy to get in any direction, by getting hit by another ball or stick or whatever.

If it depended on story then why put any limits on your story.

There object, which is made up of real, and which changes form with time, but that form is real in an instant.
And then there is perception about that object, for the same object there are as many perceptions as the number of preceptors.
So the perception is not one, not unique, how can there be so many perceptions of one real?
So perception has quality of a dream, a story.

And then you can change your story by intervening into it using a metaphor, or another story, or  intuition or anything.
So the sages used  every possible means and succeeded.

Suppose you have a physical injury, for which you need a surgery, then nothing can replace that; you need doctor, hospital etc.
But if you are hurt or something bothers you in your mind, your inventiveness will be important, you can write a new script in mind.
You don't have to stick to the objectivity of the physical world, because what causes you pain, hurt is also not existing in physical world, it exist in your story.
Probably that is the way a lot of mythology might have come up, because there is a bigger limit to what you can believe, dream.

A lot of problems of economics, social sciences, medicine etc are transformed into equations, for which solutions and insights come from geometry.
To a layman there will seem no relation between geometry and social science.
Same way metaphors, and other tools, imagination, intuition can be useful in solving our philosophical problems.

When we solve a real world problem, we do mapping.
We map the event in our minds and then we solve it there by making various projections and seeing the result.
Our brain conducts a low cost simulation of the problem outside.
To solve the problem, we always take the smallest unit of it, and change it to some simple, easily understandable form and map it to something which can be solved; we map the thing back to the original problem in the real world.
And then we go higher in scale, check our solution for higher scales.
That is the only way a lot of problems can be solved.
So it is good to imagine, dream and go back to the world.

This is the way to solve a problem.
Other way is to work hard.
But working hard and solving a problem both are different things very often.
If you are ignorant, hard work may not help you become less ignorant, often.
Otherwise all the bull who plough our farms would be enlightened.

Mail to a friend on 27 May 2012

My point on religion is that people should have freedom to read fiction, metaphors, stories; as long as they read it with the label of fiction/philosophy, and not take it literally. That will keep the poison out, at the same time giving people freedom to choose what to fall for, to decide what is beneficial. Like we take a detour in fiction books such as The Godfather, Micromegas by Voltaire.

Like in India our culture is full of metaphors. People create new stories, and there is some understanding that some things have different meaning. They kind of look for the force which represent the creation and many like me believe that there is no such force.
But all this is very liberal.

There has never been any violent religious dispute between Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Indian Buddhists on religious grounds. And even Hindus have many different sects which vary a lot in opinion, but all this doesn't cause dispute. Here focus is more on outcome, values, rather than literal truth.
Alot of people know that all this is just metaphor. So a person out to be judged by how he becomes after all this.

For example, if you mock a God in temple it is not a problem.
But if you eat meat in temple, or indulge in sexual behavior, it is offensive, unacceptable.

It is so common in rural folklore that Gods are criticized for certain things. Like would have been in Greece, that they also criticized their Gods.

What makes Islam dangerous is literal interpretation and very rigid views.
In Ajerbaizan Islam is very liberal.

Here Darwin, and evolution is accepted by educated Hindus, almost 95% people I guess.
Not believing in God doesn't make me other, it is normal. Nobody objects to it.
With this kind of setup, it becomes unimportant whether I believe or not.
No two Hindu can have common religious views, so there no question of literal interpretation.
Just like my Jewish friend used to say "two Jews three opinion"
and Jews have that kind up liberalism now, that a lot of them don't believe in God.

India has a tradition of storytelling.
Aesop fables are not original, they come from Indian roots.

In India we have Panchatantra, stories written thousand years ago, in which all the characters are human, animal, birds etc. Like children cartoons, but these are serious lessons.

Buddha, he always told stories, to explain things, in which he used everything, animals, etc as characters.

You might have known about two Greek epics, War of Troy and Odyssey.

War of Troy has been influenced by Mahabharata, and Odyssey is kind of a copy of Ramayana (story of King Rama) both are Indian epics, known to all of us here. But here you find very intricate details of these epics, and these epics were known in entire Asia on the east of India, such as Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia.

There is a temple in my office. In one temple room there are deities of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhism, Jain, north Indian, south Indian, East Indian, Sindhi. These God's reflect our conception of God, and there is no conflict between all these Gods, or our conception of God. But the Christian God or Islamic God is intolerant towards every other conception of God. That is root cause of intolerance.
