Even though Pappu lost from Amethi and in center, pappu culture is very much alive and is thriving in Indian corporate culture.
System has not been developed, so as to keep the Pappus and Darbari folks in power, and who will bell the cat? Because Pappu and Darbari themselves control the system.
My experience while working in various companies in India and experience of some of my friends, revealed few points:
(1) People are mostly interested in managing the show somehow. And show of a fake image of their work, very often they are not even aware of who they are in the technical jungle.
(2) Years of experience often mean nothing, people with 5 years, 10 years and many times 30-40 years of experience are very often idiots, their knowledge didn't develop. A structural engineer A with 14 years of exp, who was heading a certain department in a mnc, had knowledge worth two years. In my last company my HOD, Mr KM with 30 years of experience, ex IIT kgp, didn't know many basic things. Same I hear from some friends AG, R. Most of the time it takes 3 months to learn a software, and six months to master it. Here people work life time as software operator without understanding the background and fundamentals properly. But these people sit in organizations for getting promotion, salary increments.
(3) Hiring processes in India are based on whom you know. If you have very good knowledge and no contacts, then you still may face difficulties. A lot of rudimentary decision-making is left to plain illiterate HR managers.
(4) Clipping down the wings is very common, there is no systematic training and work allotment at many places, a lot of training is informal and dependent on gratitude of the senior colleagues. So it is often like a court where there are privileged lot, and sycophants. People who are higher up, without much skill dont like you to gain access to any piece of information, training and challenge them or their knowledge. There are people doing nothing for years, and they protect their fief, they wont let you come up.
Companies only want to eat ripe mangoes without spending a penny or making any effort, if they can. Rest all they will remove like shrubs. If you want to plant the seed of knowledge for value addition, then you have to do it on your own. Effort is yours to plant the seed, water it, and get the sunshine from wherever it comes naturally.
(5) I think industry is mostly like call center here in India. Western companies dump work which any monkey can do, and monkeys consider themselves to be technocrats. Not a surprise why India doesn't grow. People work so that they can get higher post, not for passion. And so they they can get their kids in so called international schools and coaching centers which would propel them to IIT and from where there kid would fly to USA.
Recently Pappu proposed to leave the Congress Chief position and all the MPs of Congress begged him to stay in the position, because it benefits them and they are not capable of taking over. Sycophants last more than dynasties. Mani Shankar Aiyyar is smart guy, he knows what pleases Gandhi family and he does his best.
Pappu represents our deep seated ignorance, our bias, our habits, our deep rooted fear of an airy demon which took 70 years to shake, we die in that time.
Pappu is everywhere and his darbaris, in our school, in teams, in work.
