Who was friend of British, Savarkar or Gandhi/Congress?

No indian politician had as many close friends among British as Gnadhi and second would be Nehru.

Gandhi helped British during Boer wars.

Gandhi (fifth from left, middle row) with members of the Indian ambulance corps during second Boer war.

Gandhi supported British Empire during first world war, gave call to Indian youth to enrol in British Army.

Savarkar served harsh imprisonment in Andman, where as Gandhi and Nehru were jailed to guest house type prisons.

Gandhi never took such acts which Savarkar did, so Gnadhi was in permanent agreement with Brits, like most people.

H G Wells writes that British mostly found Gandhi to be very useful person, who would not let events go violent and out of control.

Congress Party

Congress party was founded by a British Civil Servant Allan Octavian Hume, with the aim to create a platform for dialogue between Indians and British. The 4th, 5th, 10th, 20th, 26th, and 33rd president of Congress were British. Congress did not demand Indian independence till end of World War I. Congress cooperated with British governments, and their demands were usually limited to more rights like representation in British parliament, granting British citizenship to all Indians etc.

Can we say Congress was playing fiddle of British?

In 1946, Nehru accepted to work in Viceroys council as a minister, then he took oath of loyalty in the name of King George VI, calling him emperor of India.  Savarkar never took oath of loyalty to British.

Even today so called liberal politicians, routinely invoke foreign powers, write to American Congress to intervene in internal matters of India, to defeat BJP. Did not Jaichand and Man Singh do the same?
60 MPs signed the letter to Barack Obama, asking him to deny visa to Modi Ji when he was chief minister.

Iqbal wrote couplets in the praise of Queen Victoria.  Will Congress blame Iqbal? Most of the freedom fighters were Hindu and Sikh, barring some exceptions. Muslim League worked and cooperated with British system. Have you known about any Movement of Muslims League against British? After Independence Pakistan was became full fledged ally of UK and USA, partner of NATO. Almost all Muslims voted for creation of Pakistan in 1946. RSS, Savarkar opposed partition, Congress accepted partition. But Congress and Indian leftists are busy spreading rumors about Savarkar and RSS, claiming Muslims to be patriot. Owaisi Razakars worked with British, Jinnah, those Muslims who signed Shimla agreement worked with British, not Savarkar.

Leftists had signed mercy petition for Afjal Guru, slogans were shouted in JNU "Kitne Afjal maroge Har ghar se Afjal nilega.." But they have courage to raise fingers at Savarkar.

Nizam of Hyderabad was an staunch supporter of British during 1857 rebellion, which won him a lot of British favor, which continued till pre 1947. All Nizams of Hyderabad remained pro British. These guns were specially prepared for him by British companies.

Even Peiyar went against Gandhi and Congress. Was Periyar terrorist? Ambedkar and many other eminent Dalit thinkers including Kanshi Ram thought that "राजनितिक परिवर्तन से पहले सामाजिक और आर्थिक परिवर्तन जरुरी है, अंग्रेजो को निकलने से पहले हमें समाज व्यवस्था और अर्थ व्यवस्था को सुधारना चाहिए "

"There is something called strategy to come out of prison. How can it be termed as surrender or mercy?" ‘Does he (Rahul Gandhi) have stature to talk about Savarkar?’.

Gandhi asked Hindus in Muslim majority areas to give up their life, so that it will bring peace, it will change the heart of neighbors.
Gandhi made similar request to Jews that they should walk to gas chambers themselves.
Gandhi was not behaving like a responsible politician. Gandhi was an irresponsible person.
A person who is asking a community to surrender itself to mass slaughter, is not speaking from a position of responsibility at the very least.

How many times Rahul Gandhi, Kejriwal, etc have apologized in court?

Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Bal Gangadhar Tilak petitioned the government for his release. It is true that towards the end of his term in the Andamans, he requested the British to grant him amnesty.

In 1924, Savarkar was such a threat to British even after 14 year of rigorous imprisonment, that they kept him confined in Ratnagiri for 13 more years. But the same British allowed Nehru-Gandhi to move freely across India, even facilitating their travel to UK. Even the British knew who was a threat & who were sepoys. British kept Savarkar in detention for 27 years because they knew his ideas posed the sharpest threat to their rule. British stand vindicated today as the ideological roots he laid even under imprisonment have grown for a 100 years into the Hindutva movement ruling India today. But British let Nehru & Gandhi roam freely around the nation as they knew they were pets on a leash that could be pulled back anytime. Not just India, they even travelled to UK. Only freedom fighters in human history to travel to the occupier nation under their full protection.

  1. The South African Gandhi (Stretcher Bearer to the Empire) is a good reference for Gandhi's time serving the British Empire. https://books.google.com/books/about/The_South_African_Gandhi.html?id=RgGSCgAAQBAJ&source=kp_book_description
